Our Mission: Enhancing Quality of Life through Advanced Blood Purification

At Proxima Health, we are committed to extending high-quality human life by addressing a hidden crisis affecting our nation—environmental toxins. These harmful substances are pervasive, found in the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe, accumulating in our blood and tissues. Increasing research links these toxins to a range of serious health issues, including autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammation, heart disease, cancer, and infertility.

Until now, there has been no effective way to remove these toxins from the body. Proxima Health is proud to hold exclusive rights to bring INUSpheresis® — a patented, state-of-the-art plasma filtration technology that removes pathogens, autoimmune complexes, inflammatory mediators, and environmental toxins from the blood, tissues and organs —to the U.S. market. Already approved in the EU and China, INUSpheresis® represents a groundbreaking advancement in health. We are currently pursuing FDA approval and plan to open clinical trial sites in 2025.

Carlos Schuster

Co-founder and CEO

Carlos’s journey with Proxima Health is deeply personal. Twenty-five years ago, his sister was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of ten. Against all odds, she survived. One early hypothesis for her cancer was exposure to environmental toxins, which sparked Carlos's passion to explore ways to help others affected by similar environmental risks. Over the years, he observed a significant rise in chronic illnesses and "sub-health" conditions, with early research suggesting a link between these health issues and the bioaccumulation of toxins in the body.

In 2023, Carlos, alongside co-founder Mike, began actively seeking solutions to the environmental toxin crisis in the U.S. This journey led them to INUS Medical, a leader in innovative detoxification therapies, and marked the beginning of Proxima Health. With exclusive rights to bring INUSpheresis® technology to the U.S., Carlos is driving the mission to revolutionize blood purification and enhance human health.

Before co-founding Proxima Health, Carlos was a Senior Manager at Efficio, a global business consultancy. During his tenure, he played a key role in scaling the company from 100 to 1,000 employees and growing its valuation to over $1 billion.

Carlos holds a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Cambridge, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Engineering from Imperial College London.

Mike Petegorsky

Mike's journey with Proxima Health is rooted in a deeply personal mission. In 2023, as he prepared to welcome his first child, he became increasingly focused on creating a safe and healthy environment. Concerned about the rising presence of environmental toxins, Mike took proactive steps—installing a whole-house water filtration system, switching to PFAS-free cookware, and embracing organic foods. This commitment sparked a larger question: Could these toxins be removed from the body?

Determined to find an answer, Mike teamed up with co-founder Carlos Schuster, forged a partnership with INUS Medical, and secured the exclusive U.S. rights to bring INUSpheresis® blood filtration to market. This groundbreaking technology is now at the heart of Proxima Health, a company dedicated to improving lives through advanced detoxification therapies.

In addition to his work with Proxima Health, Mike serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Mindbloom, the nation's leading provider of psychedelic medicine. Since joining at their Series B, he has been instrumental in expanding operations from 8 to 38 states.

Before his ventures in health and wellness, Mike was an attorney at prestigious Tier 1 law firms, where he litigated patent cases for major clients like 3M and Boston Scientific.

Mike holds a law degree from Fordham University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
